I found this representative of people who have not been reduced to zombies due to the nanny state. They did not wait around observing nor expect government intervention. This was such a contrast to what happened in Canada when passengers did nothing while a lunatic murdered and began to eat another passenger on the bus they were on. They were clearly the product of Trudeaupia instead of the type of people who founded our country.

Geoff is spot on in my opinion. By refusing to define themselves and their policies without shame, conservatives remain constantly on the defensive. I understand that our present culture is poorly equipped to handle any real discussion of policy preferring sound bites, but the effort must be made to announce and explain clearly conservative policies. If they had the courage to present some actual conservative policies and explain why they would be good, I think the majority of voters would be able to make an informed decision rather than relying on emotion. It is time for conservative to take control of the debates instead of having to react to false accusations by the other side.

I was disappointed in that he made the same error as the Liberals and NDP in stating they will create jobs. Any truly conservative understands that government does not, cannot create jobs. The best thing for job creation is for the government to get out of the way. All in all it just seems that the Ontario PCs are lacking a true and solid policy, which is not a good thing.

Right, immigrants have to wait a long time before they find a job. In this economy, native Canadians with schooling and experience have to wait a long time to find a job.

And my understanding is that colleges who credential professions, they’re the ones that need to be included in the solution in order to help immigrants get the credentials they need. But some colleges/universities are so concerned with quotas (to our detriment) that they may be the problem that immigrants are facing.

And really, are there that many doctors driving cabs? If they were smart enough to be doctors, they’re smart enough to do what they need to get credentialed here, by taking some courses/exams to prove what they are able to do/what they know.

Our taxes already allow for taxpayers to spend their own money on healthcare through a tax credit when spending over a certain amount. And it’s already multi tiered when considering that employees with extended healthcare coverage have more coverage than those who don’t have employee benefits.

Why should someone be forced to accept any waiting when it comes to their health? It’s not a luxury and in some cases it may mean the difference between life and death. Private clinics want to operate efficiently. The cost of healthcare can’t be sustained and it’s more than high time that something be tried. These days, it’s impossible to get an appointment with a dermatologist without a doctor referral and when you call with the referral, it’s months before you can get an appointment.

I’ve considered subscribing to one of those “health service” – I guess I’m lucky enough to live in Québec where I’m able to do so. Who knew on this Québec had an advantage?
