That is some coffee service!
According to a proactive disclosure, staffers in Justin Trudeau’s PMO spent $548.39 for coffee in a single day this year. And there were only six of them!
Forget Bev Oda’s $16 for orange juice in London, England. This was $548.39 for coffee in London, Ontario.
That works out to $91.40 per person.
What kind of coffee were they drinking? Were the pastries cut up and spoon fed to them by an army of angels?
Did they order the infamous coffee that is digested and then defecated by Indonesian cats?
When the expense was incurred, Trudeau was in London for a cabinet retreat.
While I understand the need for staff to be there, and to be fed and watered, I don’t understand the outrageous cost for just six employees.
Of course outrageous expenses and Trudeau are terms that go together.
In the fall of 2016 it was reported that the cost to feed and water people on the PM’s first two international trips amounted to $1,300 per person. Then there were the reports of free flowing booze on the PM’s international trips.
During Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s week-long official trip to China last December, more than $2,200 worth of alcohol — 121 bottles of wine and 241 cans of beer — was consumed on flights. That amount translates to about two bottles of wine and four cans of beer for each of the roughly 56 passengers for the flights to and from China.
Nice drinks if you can get them!
In 2011, Conservative cabinet minister Bev Oda billed taxpayers for an orange juice that cost $16 at the London, England hotel she was staying at. It haunted her for the rest of her time in politics and is still raised by Liberals as example of being out of touch.
I’ve ordered coffee that cost me almost as much while meeting people over breakfast in Ottawa hotels. It may have been a mistake for Oda but it is minor compared to this crew.
Trudeau’s Liberals will bill you $548.39 for coffee for six when a trip to Timmy’s would cost you about $11 and a more expensive coffee shop, say Starbucks would cost you $15. Add in some pastries and we might hit $30.
But that wouldn’t do for Justin’s crew.
Just like only having one bottle of wine and two cans of beer on the government dime during a trip to China would be plenty for most. But Justin’s crew doubles that.
This isn’t a Liberal thing or a Conservative thing. This is an entitled thing and Trudeau’s crew feel entitled to their entitlements.
