CBC has been going non-stop on the visit of King Charles III all day, which is a little strange for me because I thought they were all about decolonizing the country. Over the past decade, especially the last several years, CBC has featured story after story on the evils of colonization and how Canada must repent for past sins.
We have been told time and again that we must be ashamed of Canada's history and traditions, but now with King Charles here in Canada, CBC can't do enough about the wonders of the Monarchy.
Stories on the demise of the Hudson's Bay Company talked about their ties to colonization. Remembrance Day stories discussed the need to decolonize the ceremonies. CBC has featured countless interviews with authors, comedians, musicians and of course academics on decolonization, which of course views all parts of colonization as evil, in their bid to show that they are on the right, or should I say the left, side of history.
Of course, now that King Charles is here, CBC can't get enough of the Monarchy. Is there anything that is a bigger symbol of colonization than the Monarchy?
We shouldn't be surprised, this is the same organization that has years amplifying the message that Canada is a post-national, genocidal state not worth caring about - essentially Trudeau's message. They have spent years telling us that our history is awful, shameful and not something to be proud of in the 21st century.
Now, they beam from ear to ear about the visit of King Charles and Camilla.
The hypocrisy of it all makes me sick.
Unlike CBC, I remain proud of Canada's history - all of it - year in and year out. We don't need to tear down statues of Sir John A. Macdonald, we need to unbox them or put more up.
Those are things you won’t hear on CBC, especially after the King leaves.
