Trudeau sees no votes among the Belgians, goes on tour

Prime Minister Trudeau answers questions during a town hall in Winnipeg. January 31, 2018. /// Le premier ministre Trudeau répond à des questions durant une assemblée publique à Winnipeg. 31 janvier 2018.

The King and Queen of Belgium are in Canada this week to say thank you to this country for helping to liberate Belgium from the Germany in the First World War, we welcomed them by having a German flag at Rideau Hall.

That may seem like a small gaffe and we can all point out that the colours are the same even if in a different order and direction but this was bad.

Worse though, our prime minister is out of town.

That’s right, the King and Queen of Belgium come to Canada for the first state visit since Trudeau Sr. was PM and Trudeau Jr. skips town. It’s not just for the steel and aluminum tour, in fact Trudeau had told the Belgian government that he couldn’t meet with them long before they arrived and long before he embarked on his latest tour.

Why?

He was supposed to be in Florida for a vacation.

That’s right, Justin Trudeau was supposed to be on vacation with his family even though he just got back from his Indian vacation.

A combination the mockery and criticism he received from that trip along with Trump’s threat of tariffs on steel and aluminum caused him to cancel the Florida trip and go back on tour.

Where did he go?

He wen to the Saguenay region of Quebec where the Liberals picked up a seat from the Conservatives recently and he wants to keep it. Of all the places he could have gone he made sure to go to the one where he wants to win or keep votes. Same with his visit to Hamilton, Ontario today. The Liberals have some seats in the area but fear the NDP.

It’s not unusual for politicians to do this sort of thing but of the four prime minister’s I have covered Trudeau does it more than all of them combined.

Trudeau didn’t need to go on tour to show that he is backing steel and aluminum workers. Not only did Trump back away from that threat last week but Trudeau could have done more by staying in his office and doing actual work. But it is hard to get votes and photo ops by working.

It’s the same with why he didn’t stay to meet with the Belgian royals and their significant business delegation, Trudeau looked at the votes to be had and decided there were none, or at least not enough. If Belgium had a large enough diaspora in Canada we could expect to see Trudeau on an 8 day long tour changing into national costume at each photo-op.

That’s what he did with India and was really the only reason he went to India.

The Belgians have said it would have been nice to meet Trudeau. If they want a meeting with this guy, they better show him where the votes are.

  1. Well Justin you have done it again, you continue to embarrass the Canadian population on the nearly daily basis, you have snubbed yet another international figure head, and royalty at that, our government is going to have a huge job fixing the debokals you have created, and an even bigger job trying to fix Canada’s international reputation after you have distorted it on the international stage, you shouldn’t be able to collect the penchin after you retire, and you diffynatly don’t deserve the designation of right hounerable like former priminesters recive, your just not mentaly ready for this job, and are a joke

  2. We Do NOT NEED MORE GUN CONTROL IN CANADA, WE NEED LESS.
WITH TURDO BRINGING BACK ISIS TERRORISTS & ALLOWING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATS TO WALK ACROSS THE US/CANADA BORDER. WE ARE NOT BEING PROTECTED BY OUR GOVERNMENT FROM THESE CRIMINALS. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED HERE. HOWEVER, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROTECT O– USELVES, OUR FAMILIES & OUR PROPERTIES, HOMES, CARS, BUSINESSES!

  3. Wow we would be better serve by making the job part time. Hire some high school kid to come in for hours after class each day.

  4. This goverment is inept.Trudeau told the Indian government that we are 100 years old not 150 and he forgot to mention Alberta on Canada Day. Wow. Just wow.

  5. So who’s responsible for the German flag gaffe, a Liberal MP or the Belgian government for giving Canada the wrong flag? The Liberal party doesn’t know the difference between Belgium and Germany like they don’t know the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground.

  6. Brian ..you are the best !I wish you would make comments on our problems in Alberta and B.C. …..however I think you have your hands full with The Ont right now !
Keep it coming ….the world need commentators like you,not just Canada!
    Cheers and thanks
    Cynthia

  7. Better idea ? meet with the imbecile in THEIR country and he’s got photo-ops galore-plus they could keep him!!

  8. He is an ignorant sob! No manners, no Brains, no respect for CANADA &/OR CANADIANS! No Political Manners! He is a waste of space!

  9. Not only did he snub Belgium gratitude, he also snubbed the men and women who fought and died for that freedom and gratitude. After the India fiasco, Europe extends a branch.Omg! With all the vacations he is taking, it is obvious to see he has no idea how the world works. The canadian dollar will tank from his bad politics, and we will be left helplessly in massive debt. If he was honest with himself, he would step down as Prime Minister. I, personally, am thankful for the gratitude of a nation we helped. I’d like Belgium to know that the current canadian government does not represent this Canadian in it’s political and historical views.

  10. That this is the person who represents Canada on the world stage,is beyond embarrassing. We can only count our blessings in that, by not meeting the King and Queen he wasn’t able to say anything that would embarrass us even further. He is an absolute failure as a PM. I’m counting the days until we can kick him and his whole caucus of bobble-heads off of Parliament Hill.
